Martinez reveals he was delighted to win titles with Messi. Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has revealed he is happy to be successful with captain Lionel Messi whom he admires.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez told Argentine media outlet Ole on Sunday after winning the 2021 Copa America, calling it a “great achievement”. Excellent to win the continental title with 34-year-old captain Lionel Messi. 

‘You say, ‘He excites the players’ and so am I and I am the goalkeeper. I hope to play every game in the league with him. I will be a better goalkeeper.’

Martinez also praised what Messi meant to him. ‘I’m ready to give his life. I would die for him.’

The 28-year-old then described the almost supernatural effect playing Messi had on the goalkeeper. Compared to the characters from the Dragon Ball Z series 

‘I’m much better (with Aston Villa), but with the national team I’m 10 or 15 per cent, you know, when you watch Dragon Ball Z as a kid? I am Vegeta and when I play with Messi I become Super Saiyan.’
